South Korea
Health workers in South Korea have begun to cull thousands of chickens after a new avian influenza outbreak was discovered near the capital, Seoul. The case was confirmed in a breeder chicken farm in Iljuk village near Ansung, 80 km (50 miles) south of Seoul. The farm houses more than 130,000 chickens.
The outbreak is the country's sixth since avian influenza reappeared there three months ago after a three-year absence.
