A Chinese farmer (37-year-old), from the eastern province of Anhui, who contracted the deadly H5N1 strain of avian influenza has fully recovered from the virus and has been released from hospital.
He became symptomatic on 10 December 2006 and was hospitalised on 17 December 2006. The patient was discharged on 6 January and is recovering well.
