France confirmed that a wild duck found dead near the border with Switzerland. The dead duck was found by a lake in the rural east of the country, in the Ain region outside Lyon. was infected with the H5N1 strain of avian influenza. Tests were continuing on about 15 dead birds from different locations around the country.
