A case of avian influenza has been confirmed at a duck breeding farm in east Yorkshire.
A cull of all ducks (6000) is being carried out at the site and an exclusion zone is in place. The farm is operated by Cherry Valley Farms. Cherry Valley, has "operational centres" in Britain, China and Germany. The firm rears seven million Pekin ducks in the UK every year, which are mostly sold to the Chinese catering market in the UK and Europe.
Defra confirmed the outbreak it was investigating was the H5 virus.
