U.S. authorities destroyed 39,000 turkeys in Missouri due to an outbreak of a low pathogenic avian influenza H5N1 in Jasper County in SW Missouri.
The strain was 99 percent homologous with a blue-winged teal isolate from Louisiana in 2014 and 98 percent similar to an isolate from a mallard in Ohio in 2011.
