Niger has reported an outbreak of the highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza virus among poultry.
Niger's veterinary services submitted a notification to the OIE on Thursday (June 2) after the outbreak was confirmed at the end of May.
The outbreak, which killed all 86,000 poultry birds at the affected site, started in late February, and followed a previous outbreak in the country last year.
