H5N8 in Sweden

The Swedish Ministry of Agriculture, reports identification of H5N8 avian influenza in two locations in the southern tip of the country. The disease was detected in Vellinge and Helsingborg, two villages near the Danish border.
Vellinge confirmed that a wild bird was found dead and tested positive for H5N8, while a flock of laying hens outside of Helsingborg (Aniagra farm in Mörarp)  were infected with an H5N8 avian influenza. The commercial laying flock contains 210,000 hens in 12 houses. From 21 November the farmer noticed an increased in morbidity (neurological symptoms) and mortality.
