On 27 July 2016, LPAI H7N7 was detected in A large flock of mallard ducks at Brenderup farm in western Funen in connection with the Danish surveillance programme for avian influenza. The diagnosis was confirmed and the virus was typed by sequencing. The killing of the mallards (3,000) at the infected holding will be conducted on 28 July 2016. The Danish Veterinary and Food Administration has established a restricted zone of 1 km around the holding and are implementing the necessary measures in accordance with Council Directive 2005/94/EC.
The H7N7 type: 97 % identity with H7 found in mallard in The Netherlands in 2013. Also some similarities with H7 isolates from Italy and UK in turkey and chickens Different N-type.
