Eggs
Residues of lasalocid were found in 34 of 275 (12.4%) egg samples at concentrations above the MRL or action level. 25 of 31 samples of what should have been unmedicated feed contained
residues of lasalocid. This suggests that cross-contamination at the mill manufacturing the feed was the likely cause of most residues.
Nicarbazin residues were found in 1 of 246 (0.41%) egg samples tested.
Poultry Meat
Chlortetracycline (CTC)
residues were found in 1 of 79 samples of turkey kidney.
CTC residues were found in 1 of 11 samples of hen kidney.
CTC residues were found in 1 of 264 (0.38%) samples of broiler kidney.
Sulphadiazine residues were found in 1 of 866 (0.12%) samples of broiler muscle.
Quinolone residues were found in 1 of 372 (0.27%) samples of broiler muscle tested.
Monensin residues were found in 2 of 292 (0.68%) samples of broiler liver tested.
Nicarbazin residues above the MRL of 200 µg/kg were found in 36 of 281 (17.6%) samples of broiler liver.
Imported chicken
Nitrofuran metabolites were found in 1 of 298 (0.36%) samples of imported chicken tested. This sample was from Thailand.
Chloramphenicol residues were detected in 1 of 300 (0.33%) samples tested. This sample of Thai chicken had a concentration of 0.4 µg/kg.
Domestic quail eggs
Lasalocid residues were detected in 12 of 30 quail egg samples tested.
Nicarbazin residues were detected in 3 of 30 quail egg samples.
