HPAI in the UK

16.12.2021

Dozens of highly pathogenic avian flu cases have been recorded across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. There are 40 infected poultry farm premises in the UK - 33 in England, three in Wales, two in Scotland and two in Northern Ireland. Around 500,000 birds have had to be culled. The bill for compensation paid to those affected by Avian Influenza could potentially run to “tens of millions of pounds”. Compensation is payable only to the owner of the animals or items affected. Consequential losses are not compensated for.
