On October 16th living anas penelope (eurasian wigeon) were sampled in a duck decoy (in Hippolytishoef) for scientific research, four (4) of the anas penelope (eurasian wigeon) were tested positive for H5N1 on 27 October at a National Reference Laboratory.
On October 18th A Greylag Goose: Anser anser (Anatidae) was found dead in a wetland (Purmerend).
On October 31st, one (1) numenius arquata (curlew) was found dead in a wetland area (Hallum, Friesland). On November 5th the National Reference Laboratory confirmed HPAI Virus H5N1 in the sample from the numenius arquata (curlew).
On November 2nd, one (1) anas crecca (teal) was found dead in a wetland Area (Holwerd, Friesland). On November 5th the National Reference Laboratory confirmed HPAI Virus H5N1 in the sample from the one (1) anas crecca (teal).The virus was classified as highly pathogenic.
