Avian influenza has been confirmed in a small number of poultry and captive birds at a Leicestershire theme park, near Melton Mowbray. Up to 175 poultry and captive birds will be culled. The strain involved is the HPAI H5N8. Twinlakes Park in melton Mowbray has a farm and bird of prey centre on its site.
Another outbreak was reported in captive birds at a non-poultry premises in Gloucestershire. The avian influenza outbreak, near Stroud, was of the H5N8 strain.
