The 2023 Antibiotic Stewardship Report, recently published by the British Poultry Council, showcases the remarkable accomplishments of the BPC Antibiotic Stewardship team. Their unwavering commitment to ensuring the well-being of birds and safeguarding the effectiveness of antibiotics throughout the supply chain is prominently featured in the report. The main results:79.5% reduction in the total use of antibiotics since 2012.
Zero Fluoroquinolones used in chicken meat production in 2022.
98.7% reduction in use of Critically Important Antibiotics since 2012.
Zero Polimixins used in poultry production in 2022.
In chickens, antibiotic use is currently 14.05mg/pcu – well under the RUMA target of 25 mg/pcu. In turkeys, the current figure is 41.07 mg/pcu, again comfortably inside the RUMA target of 50 mg/pcu. Zero Polimixins used in poultry production in 2022.
