The Gordon Memorial Award

Dr Ilaria Capua the director of the Department of Comparative Biomedical Sciences at the Istituto Zooprofilattico Sperimentale delle Venezie, Italy – has been awarded the 2012 Gordon Medal for distinguished contributions to poultry science. Dr Robert Fraser Gordon established the Animal Health Trust in 1948 for the study of poultry diseases.  The Robert Fraser Gordon Memorial Trust awards the Gordon medal annually to a person who has made an outstanding contribution to poultry science.The lecture given yesterday by Dr Capua was entitled "Avian influenza: a game changer in international public health policies"
