Israel imports eggs from Turkey, but the authorities hide information from consumers and eggs are stamped illegally as local. Tens of millions of eggs are imported to Israel every year, without informing the consumers. Yaacov Cohen, secretary of the Poultry Farmers Association, admits that the situation is very problematic, but blames the regulator - the Ministry of Agriculture – "poor quality eggs are imported from Turkey I personally would throw them away" he said (The Marker, May 25)
