In an effort to meet the Passover demand for eggs in Israel, the government has approved importing 30 million eggs from Turkey. The imported eggs will be marked with a “TR” on the egg.
Some veterinarians are not pleased with the decision, pointing out the standard in Turkey is lower than in Israel, for in the latter layer flocks are vaccinated against Salmonella enteritidis while in Turkey this is not mandatory. A double standard of the Israeli authorities.
