Local tests have confirmed that a 36-year-old man who died two days ago in a Jakarta hospital had avian influenza, senior health officials said.
Health officials were still waiting for the results to be confirmed by a World Health Organization (WHO) laboratory, but if the man, who lived in South Jakarta, is confirmed to have died from avian influenza, he would be the 10th fatality in Indonesia from the virus.
