11.08.2005
China has discovered avian influenza, at a farm in Tibet.
The virus found was likely to be the H5N1 strain.
The Chinese authorities informed the OIE that 133 breeding chickens had died and 2,600 birds were destroyed in a farm close to the capital Lhasa, which had prompted them to cull an additional 2600 birds in the surrounding area (OIE).
