13 LPAI outbreaks had occurred in Italy from 20 April to 26 June 2009.
- 4 LPAI (H5N7) outbreaks in meat turkey farms in Northern Italy (Veneto and Lombardy Regions).
- 2 (H7N3) and 7 (H7) LPAI outbreaks in Central Italy (Umbria Region) and Northern Italy (Piemonte, Emilia Romagna and Veneto Regions).
From 29/06/09 to 10/09/09 LPAI virus (H7) infection was identified in 3 dealer and 15 rural poultry farms in five different Regions. In one case it was also possible to characterized the Neuraminidase as N3.
A total of 121,639 birds were involved.
All birds in the affected holdings were depopulated.
