A new case of avian influenza was found in Seoul yesterday, less than a week after the H5N1 virus struck the capital.
Over 8,000 ducks and chickens were immediately culled at an illegally-run farm in Songpa District. Quarantine officials said the two outbreaks trace back to the same traditional market in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province.
South Korean officials said they had killed Seoul's entire poultry population to curb the spread of avian influenza.
