Mexico reported outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza at two egg farms. The cases were resolved after the culling of nearly 300,000 birds.
The virus emerged in two egg farms located in the central state of Aguascalientes.
The virus strain involved is a H7N3. Outbreaks of H7N3 occurred lately in Mexico in the northeastern part of the state of Jalisco, which is near Aguascalientes.
The virus was found to be with 99 percent similar genetics to the one that hit the Los Altos area de Jalisco in June 2012.
