Epidemiological Situation 2012: In 2012, a total of 16 outbreaks of LPAI virus were identified. All, except one, were caused by H5 subtype; one H7 LPAI subtype was detected in a rural farm in Emilia Romagna region. H5  epidemics involved 7 regions and 15 farms.8 out of 15 outbreaks were identified in industrial sector (6 meat type turkeys and 2 laying hens); instead 7 were identified in rural sector.

Last outbreak for year 2012 was a rural farm in Oct. the 22nd, 2012.

Epidemiological Situation 2013: On 16 Feb 2013 Regional Laboratory of Forlì (Emilia Romagna Region) find serological and virological positivity for AI virus in samples collected in a rural farm located in Castelvetro municipality (Modena province). On 19 Feb 2013 National Reference Laboratory confirm positivity in sera and tracheal swabs for LPAI virus H5 subtype. On 25 Feb 2013 the depopulation ended.
