A new study presented at the AAAP symposium 2013 by Collisson et al of the Western University of Health Science, California found that susceptibility and resistance to Infectious Bronchitis virus-induced clinical illness has been correlated with genetically-defined B haplotypes.
The investigators concluded that resistance to IBV may be directly linked to a more vigorous innate immune response, ultimately resulting in more effective adaptive immunity. Intensive analyses of the mRNA expression following activation of macrophages identify molecular pathways that relate to enhance resistance to viral infection.
