The Israeli Health Ministry suspects that eggs imported from Spain may be infected with Salmonella enteritidis.
Until the Health Ministry completes further tests to determine the presence of the bacteria, it is suspending the import of eggs from Spain. Israel has no traceability system neither a national control program for Salmonella in table eggs.
