The Egyptian Ministry of Health announced the country's 10th death from avian influenza in Egypt since an outbreak of the virus started in February.
The victim was identified as Reda Abdel Halim Farid, a 26-year-old man the third member of his extended family to die of the virus.
The man showed symptoms of the disease Dec. 14 and was admitted to a rural hospital three days later. He started receiving Tamiflu treatment on Dec. 20 after a second case appeared in his family and the medical staff learned that he may have come into contact with poultry.
Farid's two relatives, a 15-year-old girl and a 30-year-old woman, have both died from the deadly virus on Sunday and Monday respectively.
