The Egyptian Health Ministry said that it had detected a new case of the H5N1 strain of avian influenza, the first since May.
Hanan Aboul Magd, 39, from the northern Nile delta province of Gharbiya was tested positive for avian influenza after suffering from high fever and shortness of breath. The woman raised ducks.
Her case brings to 15 the total number of human avian influenza cases since the virus was first detected in February in Egypt. Six cases turned out to be fatal and eight people recovered.
