Description of affected population: chicken, the case was a rooster.
On 3 March 2006, a dead swan (Cygnus olor) was found in the river Drina near Bacevci village at the border with Bosnia and Herzegovina and the presence of avian influenza was confirmed.
Epidemiological investigations were conducted in the area and all holdings were identified. Documented visits of holdings and clinical inspection of poultry led to discover this outbreak.
