On 5 July 2006 low pathogenic avian influenza (H5) has been detected in a game bird holding in the city Lovel in Viborg County. There have not been clinical signs of disease among the animals. Ducklings (mallards) from the holding were tested in accordance with the Danish surveillance programme for avian influenza in poultry.
The Danish Veterinary and Food Administration has established a restricted zone at 1 km around the holding and are implementing the necessary measures in accordance with Council Directive 2005/94/EC.
