From 01 January to 31 May 2012 there were 3 outbreaks of LPAI in Italy. 1 outbreak of H7 and 2 of H5.
24 Apr 2012: In the frame of national monitoring plan serum samples were collected in laying hens farm located in Naples municipality (Campania Region). On the 02 of May the NRL confirmed positive results for LPAI Virus subtype H5 on serum samples (HI titre range 1:32-1:128). Birds present in farm : 4.800 laying hens.
08 May 2012: In the frame of monitoring rural poultry sector, serum samples were collected in a Backyard farm located in Mezzano municipality (Emilia Romagna Region).On the 14 May the NRL confirmed positive results for LPAI Virus subtype H7 on serum samples. HI titre range from 1:16 to 1:128. Birds present in the farm : 98 chickens, 15 guinea fowl and 2 turkeys.
26 january 2012: The NRL confirmed positive results for LPAI Virus subtype H5 on swabs from Ducks collected in Rural farm located in Forlì municipality (Emilia Romagna Region). Birds present in farm : 777 ducks, 36 geese, 110 chicken breeder, 3 pigeons-total 936.
