Notification 8 August 2012: NVWA receives notification from Laboratory GD Animal health Service found >30% AI positive serology samples from the general monitoring program in organic poultry farms with laying hens.
These samples were sent to the National Reference Laboratory for confirmation.
30 out of 30 samples positive on H7.
The Farm: Organic poultry farm. 32870 Laying hens in 2 barns with free range capability. No other farm in the 1 km zone with AI sensitive animals.
Action 11 and 12 August: All birds were culled.
