Chelford Agricultural Centre near Macclesfield opened for business yesterday but with new restrictions on poultry sales in place. Officials believe that chickens bought at the market earlier this month may be linked to an outbreak of avian influenza around a small farm at Corwen, North Wales.
The centre's Gwyn Williams said that he had taken the decision to cancel the sale after liaising with the Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA).
