Afghan authorities were culling poultry after an outbreak of avian influenza H5N1 in chicken in an eastern Afghan city.
Avian influenza was reported in the eastern provinces of Nangarhar and Kunar. The outbreak killed 73 backyard poultry, including turkeys.
Vaccination was applied in response to the outbreak.
