Egypt: A 5-year-old boy from the Nile Delta region tested positive for the H5N1 avian influenza strain

The boy, 5-year-old Mohamed Ahmed Suleiman of Sharqiya province, was admitted to hospital with symptoms on 14 February, and his condition remains stable. The boy was exposed to sick birds one week prior to the onset of symptoms. Of the 22 cases confirmed to date in Egypt, 13 have been fatal.
