A 24-year-old male from Jiangsu Province was hospitalised on 27 November after being diagnosed with pneumonia. The man's condition deteriorated in hospital and he died on on 2 December. The man, surnamed Lu, had no contact with dead poultry. The case was confirmed by the national laboratory on 2 December.
