Low pathogenic avian influenza virus H7N3 was diagnosed in a turkey farm, Polk County, Missouri. The turkeys did not show any clinical signs of sickness or disease.
Samples were collected as part of routine, pre-slaughter surveillance for the National Poultry Improvement Plan (NPIP) Avian Influenza Clean Program (H5 and H7).
The United States' last low-pathogenic avian influenza outbreak occurred in August 2009, when the H7N9 virus turned up on a turkey farm in Meeker County, Minnesota.
