Newcastle disease was reported in two commercial egg type layers. The first case in Kfar Yedidya a moshav in central Israel, located in the coastal plain. All birds (>10,000) were culled. The second case in Bnei Atarot (25,000 birds), multiple age layers. A drastic drop in egg production and high mortality were recorded. Benei Atarot is a village in proximity of Ben Gurion International Airport.
