From May 19 to June 6,  3 outbreaks of LPAI H7 were reported:
Case 1: On May 16, in the frame of national monitoring plan serum samples were collected in a
laying hens holding (5,000 laying hens) located in Naples municipality (Campania Region). The NRL confirms positivity for LPAI Virus subtype H7 on 2 serum samples Ab titres 1:64 and 1:256. The farm was depopulated cleaned and disinfected.
Case 2: April 27, serum samples were collected in an rural farm (235 Gallus gallus) located in Palazzo san Gervaso Municipality (Potenza Province, Basilicata region).
On May 19 The NRL confirms positivity for LPAI Virus subtype H7 on 7 serum samples titre range between 1:32 – 1:128. The place was depopulated, cleaned and disinfected.
Case 3: 10-15, May 2011- Respiratory symptoms and increased mortality were observed in a meat type turkeys farm located in Bettona (Perugia Province, Umbria Region). On June 7, The NRL confirms positivity for LPAI Virus subtype H7 on 35 Serum samples (titre range between 1:16 – 1:256). the farm was depopulated (19,200 meat type turkeys), cleaned and disinfected.
