Epidemiological situation From 08 Sep to 31 Oct 2011

Italy reports 6 more outbreaks of H7 LPAI in backyard flocks.
15 Oct 2011: In the frame of monitoring rural poultry sector serum samples were collected in 2 Backyard flocks located in Basilicata Region –Potenza province.

On the 18th of October the NRL confirmed positive results for LPAI Virus subtype H7 on serum samples.
Depopulation was performed on 20 Oct 2011. Birds present in 1st farm : 36 laying hens. Birds present in 2nd farm : 62 broiler and 13 turkeys.
31 Oct 2011: Serum samples were collected in 4 Backyard flocks located in Basilicata Region – Matera province. On the 31st of October the NRL confirmed positive results for LPAI Virus subtype H7 on serum samples.
