Health experts have issued an alert warning after an increase in cases of food poisoning linked to people eating eggs from Spain.
The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has notified residents after eggs containing salmonella were found in cafes in Sutton and on sale in shops.
The majority of cases were discovered in the north of England but experts believe the infected eggs have moved south due to an increase in cases of food poisoning linked to people eating Spanish eggs.
The eggs linked with the illness are stamped 3ES4504734A.
The Salmonella strain is: Salmonella Enteritidis Phage Type (PT) 14b.
2002: An outbreak of salmonella in England and Wales claimed the lives of two people. Salmonella Enteritidis PT 14b. Spanish eggs have been linked to this outbreak.
