USA: Avian influenza in 2 Missouri facilities

Avian influenza virus has been detected in Missouri. The virus was confirmed in turkeys at a grower facility (30,000 turkeys) in Asbury in the southwest part of the state (Jasper County at 30213 Thyme Road). Preliminary tests also came back positive for the virus at a commercial turkey facility (21,000 turkeys) in Fortuna in the central part of the state (Moniteau County is located at 35764 Newkirk Road in Fortuna). The virus strain is an highly pathogenic H5N2.
