Nebraska officials confirmed another outbreak of avian influenza. Additional 1.8 million chickens in Dixon County will be destroyed. The second case in Dixon County, a farm with 1.8 million egg-laying hens, is physically close to the first farm that tested positive earlier this week.
The first case affected 1.7 million chickens. Combined with the destruction of the second flock, avian influenza has now affected almost 40 percent of the state’s more than 9.4 million egg-laying hens.
