Avian influenza virus was revealed among wild birds during prophylactic measures in two districts of Istanbul - Kartal and Arnavutköy district, located respectively on the Anatolian and European sides of the city.
The cases have been detected in both the European and Anatolian sides of Istanbul, Turkey’s biggest metropolitan city. The authorities banned upland hunting in the city until the end of September.
The Turkish province of Balikesir was quarantined due to avian influenza in May.
